Landlords Insurance is the online name of Yorkshire Property Management (herein referred to as "Landlords Insurance") and consider the protection of your personal data to be of the utmost importance. This privacy policy outlines how your information will be handled and how it will be used once collected.

We use personal information about you to:
  provide you with a quotation,
  administer your policy if you buy one,
  maintain and improve the services we provide to you.

Some of the information we ask you to provide may be sensitive. This type of sensitive data will only be used for the specific purpose for which it is provided.

We will:
  process your information in accordance with your rights under the Data Protection Act 1998,
  use reasonable endeavours to ensure that information about you is accurate and kept up to date.

We will not:
  hold more information about you than is required for the purposes for which it is being collected/processed,
  keep your information for longer than is necessary, or as required by law.

In addition, your information may be disclosed to:
  the police in response to a request,
  other bodies in response to legislative/court orders.

You should also be aware that:
  to help prevent fraudulent claims, insurers may exchange information with other insurers through various databases.

Before we ask you to supply personal information on-line, you will be given the opportunity to indicate whether you accept the terms of our privacy policy. Important Information
Disclosing the Full Facts

In order to get a quote for insurance you will need to answer a number of questions on our site. Please avoid the temptation to be anything less than completely honest. Failure to disclose accurate information may invalidate your insurance. This could have serious repercussions. Invalid insurance could result in no cover being provided. It could also result in a criminal prosecution, which could affect any future insurance policies. If you are in doubt whether any details are relevant, please ask us before requesting cover.

When Cover Begins & When it Ends
Insurance will only begin when we receive your payment and we issue confirmation that cover has begun.

All Policies we sell are annual policies, which expire one year after the start date of cover (unless cancelled before then). In all cases, we will confirm the period of cover before you buy a policy from us, and your policy documents will confirm this.

Our Charges
The following charges apply in addition to any additional/return premium calculated by your insurer. For further details, please refer to your policy document, or call us.

Is subject to a £25.00 charge and we will retain any commission reclaimed by your insurers

All transaction are subject to a 3% transaction charge.

How to Cancel
If after buying a policy from us, you may decide to cancel it. To cancel a policy we will require written confirmation and the return of the current certificate and policy booklet that you have in your possession. Your insurers allow a 14-day “cooling off” period; this will allow you to cancel should the policy differ from cover requested. Your insurers may charge you an amount for the time you have been on cover and our charges will not exceed £25.00 if a policy is cancelled within the 1st 14 days. Following the cancellation any refund will be refunded to you via the payment method once this has been received from your insurers.

Keeping Us Informed
Once you buy your insurance, you have a duty to keep us informed of any changes to your circumstances. Note especially that you must call us before you change your address. If you don’t keep us informed of any changes, your insurance could be invalid and not cover you in the event of a claim.

If you have a complaint
Your insurers and we aim to achieve 100% customer delight at all times. If we, or your insurer, let you down, please tell us and we will do our utmost to resolve the issue as quickly and fairly as possible.

Step 1
In the first instance, please call the office on 0845 603 57 76, our experienced staff will do their best to resolve the matter without delay. In the unlikely event that you are not completely satisfied, please ask to speak to a Manager.

Step 2
If you are still not happy, please write to our Operations Manager outlining your concerns and quoting you customer number. Our address is 21 Whiterose Way, Garforth, LEEDS, West Yorkshire LS25 2EF. Alternatively, you can email us at: info@landlord-insure.co.uk. Our aim is to resolve all complaints within 24 hours of receipt. If this is not possible, we will acknowledge your complaint within a maximum of 5 working days and send you our final written response within a maximum of 20 working days.

Step 3
If we cannot resolve the matter, the next stage will depend on what your complaint is about.

Step 3a
If your complaint is about the service you have received from Landlord-insure and you have received our final written response, you may be able to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (if eligible).

The ombudsman will require a completed form, which can be accessed via their website at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk. Alternatively, they can help you complete the form by taking your details over the phone on 0845 0801800. Referral to the Ombudsman does not affect your right to take legal action.

Step 3b
If your complaint is about the cover provided by your policy, or the service received from your insurer, you should write to the address shown in your policy document. We will confirm these details when we send our final response to you. Your insurer has it owns complaints procedure, a copy of which will be provided on request. If you are still not satisfied after receiving a response from your insurers, they will advise you of the next appropriate authority to contact.

Data Protection
Landlord-insure may use information we hold about you to either contact you about insurance or any other services we feel may be of interest to you. We will need to pass your details to the insurer for underwriting purposes. The information Landlord-insure and your insurers hold may be used by a service provider acting under our instruction for the purpose of arranging and handling your insurance policy, and to make sure that any claim is settled effectively. By accepting this policy you agree to this exchange of information.

Fraud Prevention
The information provided when taking out a policy may be referred to a Claims and Underwriting Exchange to ensure fraudulent claims/policies are not taken out. This information is then shared within the insurance market. Using fraudulent information may result in a criminal conviction.

Law Applicable
Policy documents detail the law applicable to each contract of insurance. This depends on the type of insurance you buy, and which insurer underwrites it. Generally, it will be English law. If you would like confirmation of this, please ask us before buying.
